On Oct 2, 2026 we will host a full-day workshop on computational methods in law, led by Johan Lindholm (Umeå university), at Segerstedthuset (CIRCUS premises).
How does a legal concept develop across thousands of court decisions? How do judges cite one another, which rulings prove influential, and how do legal arguments and/or ideological shifts within a court spread and take shape over time? The workshop targets legal scholars curious about computational methods and with no prior experience with such methods and the day combines theoretical starting points in the morning with hands-on work on practical examples of how computational methods can be applied in legal research.
